The Caddo National Grasslands is located in the north-easthern region of Texas along the Texas/Oklahoma border. These grasslands span approximately 17,700 acres that are maintained by the U.S. Forest Service. This area that was once all private ranches, is now only scattered with a few remaining privately owned ranches and residences. These lands were purchased by the federal government in the 1930's, and turned over to the U.S. Forest Service in the 1970's. The U.S. Forest Service has been restoring this land's vegetation and wildlife for over 30 years. This guide to the grasslands is intended to provide its visitors and private landowners with helpful information about the park and surrounding areas from the perspective of an insider.
